Nannini began his career in 2009 at the age of 6 where he went on to win a number of different karting championships before joining Fernando Alonso’s karting team in 2015 where he won his second competition at Trofeo Dei Campioni in Italy. Between that time, he took 3rd in the Parolin Championkart – 50 Rocky 2012, 2nd in the Championkart International Final – Rocky 2012, 3rd in the Parolian Championkart – 60 Mini 3rd, 2nd in the International Mini Academy – 60 Mini Academy 2014 and 1st in the Trofeo Academy Championkart – 60 Mini 2014.
Since joining the Alonso karting team, he competed in the 2016 Trofeo dei Campioni – Junior ROK 125 where he took first. After his 15th placing in the 2015 ROK Cup Italy – Junior ROK 125, Nannini returned in 2016 where he took first. He also competed in the ROK Cup Italy – Centro – Junior ROK in 2016 where he took second. His 2017 season wasn’t as successful as 2016 as he placed 27th in the 2017 WSK Champions Cup – OK, 41st in the 2017 WSK Super Master Series – OK and 37th in the CIK-FIA European Championship – OK.
Matteo made the move to Formula 4 in 2019 where he competed with Xcel in the Formula 4 UAE Championship, taking first in the championship with seven wins, seven poles and seven fastest laps to make 363 points. He also raced with the team for three races in the F4 Spanish Championship, taking 18 points and a fastest lap. Alongside Formula 4, Nannini raced two races with MP Motorsport in the Formula Renault Eurocup. He also finished 13th in the Formula Regional European Championship with Corbetta Racing Srls where he completed 13 races.
FIA Formula 3
Matteo will be competing with Jenzer Motorsport in the FIA Formula 3 Championship in 2020 for his rookie year, alongside fellow rookie Calan Williams and returning driver Federico Malvestiti.
