Dragon Racing debuted into the racing world in 2007 when they joined the IndyCar Series. They continued to race in the series until 2014 when they debuted in Formula E. When they first began racing, they went by Luczo Dragon Racing. They competed in a one-off entry at the 2007 Indianapolis 500 with Ryan Briscoe. They went on to run a six-race schedule in 2008 which included Indianapolis 500. Dragon Racing went full time in 2009, winning Rookie of the Year honours with Raphael Matos who scored multiple top 10 finishes. The team went on to re-brand as Dragon Racing in 2011 and continued to race in Indy 500.

Dragon Racing debuted in the FIA Formula E championship for the 2014 to 2015 season with Jérôme d’Ambrosio and Oriol Servià. Although their pace wasn’t all that great, they were reliable and consistent and they finished second in the standings. They had a positive finish to their season where they took four podiums and a win. They returned for the 2015 to 2016 season with Jérôme d’Ambrosio and Loïc Duval where Duval’s car proceeded to retire three races in a row, leaving them fourth in the standings. The team continued to head down hill as they went in to the 2016 to 2017 season with Jérôme d’Ambrosio and Loïc Duval returning. Mike Conway replaced Duval for a single race in Paris. The team finished 8th in the standings with 33 points.
For the 2017 to 2018 season, Jérôme d’Ambrosio returned with the team alongside Neel Jani for the first two races. Jani was replaced by José María López for the remainder of the series where the team went on to finish 9th. GEOX Dragon started the 2018 to 2019 season by returning with José María López who proceeded to race alongside Maximilian Günther. Felipe Nasr replaced Günther for three races from Mexico to Sanya, with the team finishing in 10th in the standings with eight retirements across the season.
The team reverted back to Dragon/Penske Autosport for the 2021 season. They decided to keep their Berlin finale lineup of Nico Müller and Sérgio Sette Câmara. Nico retains his #6 whilst Sette Câmara takes #7.
